ASAP is attempting to track all the cats that have been lost or escaped while evacuating from the Tea Fire.

All found cats without a known owner will come to the ASAP Cat Shelter at 5473 Overpass Road (click here for a map), unless they are sick or injured. Sick or injured cats will be taken to CARE Veterinary Hospital, 899-2273. The only cats that will be found at The Humane Society are cats being boarded by identified owners. The Humane Society is not accepting any stray cats found in the fire area, they are all being sent to ASAP.

If you find a cat in the Tea Fire area PLEASE bring it to the ASAP Cat Shelter at 5473 Overpass Road. There are dozens of people who have reported their cats missing from the fire and they are desperate to be reunited with them. Click here to see a list of cats reported lost as a result of the Tea Fire. We will be holding cats found in the fire area for 30 days before releasing them for adoption. ASAP is a no-kill shelter.

Santa Barbara City and County Animal Control have been patrolling the area looking for cats. There have been several reports of multiple cats seen in the area, and also reports of people holding cats because they do not want to take them to the shelter. If you have a found cat and are not willing to bring it to the shelter, please call Animal Control or email us a photo, so we can post it and reunite the cat with its owner. Please send pictures to: Teafirelostcats@cox.net.

If you have lost your cat and have not reported it, you can call ASAP at 683-3368. Please give as many details as possible.

Please do not make multiple reports on the same cat, but feel free to call to check on your cat as often as you like (please let the volunteers know you have already filed a report). If you find your cat, please let us know so we can remove it from the list. We would also be interested in hearing the story of your cat's recovery.

We will be posting pictures of all the cats that have been found that have not be reunited with their owners and updating whenever we receive new information and photos, so check this web page frequently.

Animal Services has the following items to help fire victims: food for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and other pets; beds; toys; litter; crates; and food bowls. Please contact Animal Services at 681-5285 for more information on receiving these items.

The Santa Barbara Animal Foundation is collecting donations to help with fire-related veterinary expenses. If you would like to make a donation, please send it to P.O. Box 86, Goleta CA 93116-0086. Write “Tea Fire Vet expenses” in the memo.

County Animal Services is looking for large dog-sized carriers that can house cats injured in the fire. If you are able to donate a carrier, please bring it to the office at 5473 Overpass Road.
